My Personal Recommendations

When I first started my copywriting business, I had no idea how to organize anything. I had previously owned a brick-and-mortar business, where everything was done on paper. I didn’t know about productivity, accountability, systems, or processes. I want to share the tools that have kept me sane while my mind is whirling with creative brainstorming and idea generation.

I’m recommending things that I’ve been using myself for a long time. Some of these are affiliate links, and I may earn a commission if you choose to sign up or make a purchase through my links. It won’t cost you any more, and you may get a discount!

If you’re curious about any of these resources, I’m happy to chat further about my experience with them.

Beth’s Resources

Squarespace

I started out with WordPress, but I switched to Squarespace. I can make changes more easily there than I could with WordPress. Squarespace is constantly making improvements and offers other things like an email platform, sales pages, ecommerce, invoicing, and scheduling.

Kit for Email Marketing

I originally used Constant Contact and switched because of the cost increase at a certain point for subscribers. And like WordPress to Squarespace, Kit was much easier for me to navigate. I’ve used it for email campaigns, of course, but also landing pages. You can segment lists and tag easily, and they have a nice selection of templates. They also have great customer support.

ClickUp for Project Management

ClickUp is the master of all things business for me! Another super robust platform with excellent customer service, they add enhancements every month. I have a client tracker system, my marketing calendar and tasks, my client project tasks,  and my own business operational tasks set up in ClickUp. And the options for how to view everything are numerous. Sometimes I like a calendar, other times I like lists, and there are many others.

Canva for Cool Graphics

Not gonna lie, I was Canva challenged initially. But then a friend showed me how to use it, and proved to me that it was all in my mind. They have a ton of templates and options for all types of graphics you might need for your business. The Pro plan lets you have a brand kit, so your colors and fonts are right there for you.

Google Workspace

Google Workspace, what can I say? It’s the nucleus of my business. I use it for personal and professional email, my calendar, documents, and spreadsheets. I also use Google Meet for virtual meetings and recordings. It comes with Gemini for transcripts, summaries, and notes.

Dubsado for Client Management

Although there’s a bit of a learning curve, Dubsado’s options are robust. I use it to capture leads, send proposals, contracts, and invoices, create questionnaires and feedback forms, and schedule all my calls. And there are so many other things it can do. The customer support is excellent.

Quickbooks Online for Accounting

QB 4eva, my friends:) I’m pretty good with numbers, but not all the numbers that come with running a business. QuickBooks Online is a blessing for me. Although I use Dubsado for my invoices, you can use QB to invoice and receive payments. It integrates with Dubsado, which I love. And at the end of the year, I can give my CPA access to my financial reports for my tax returns. I also love their cash flow planner to estimate revenue and expenses.

Kathleen Lawson Consulting, Kathleen Lawson

It’s simple. I try my best, as a creative, to do what she says. Those systems and processes I mentioned above, she helped me create them. Every time I have a struggle, she has a strategy to handle it. If you’re ready to stop “winging it”, she’s definitely your gal.
